WAAPA in the Park.
Get ready for an exhilarating performance as the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ stars of tomorrow take center stage. Bring your family and friends, a picnic rug and hamper, and enjoy a truly magical evening under the stars as WAAPA In The Park celebrates ten years of fantastic free family entertainment with event partner, the City of Stirling.
The City of Stirling and WAAPA invite you to enjoy an evening of exciting musical talent at WAAPA In The Park on Saturday, 25 March at 7.00pm in Mount Lawley’s Ron Stone Park – just opposite Edith Cowan University. WAAPA is delighted to be able to once again showcase its talented students and staff to the wider community and appreciates the support of the City of Stirling in making this happen.
The City of Stirling Mayor, Giovanni Italiano JP, said he welcomes WAAPA to Ron Stone Park for their annual outdoor performance. “This is the tenth year the City and WAAPA have joined forces to bring WAAPA in the Park to the community. We are very proud to be associated with this event and it has developed quite a following over the years. My advice to those intending to head along this year is to get there early and bring the family.”
Be wowed by the phenomenal Phat Funk Band and WAAPA’s most accomplished Jazz musicians as they bop and strut their way through an awesome collection of old and new funk and jazz standards by the likes of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. In the second act the Contemporary Music students will have you up on your feet as they traverse a diverse range of popular classics by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Béyonce, Prince, Sam Brown, Justin Timberlake and heaps more.
WAAPA Production and Arts Management students will also undertake the stage management, lighting, sound and front-of-house management – making this an all-round WAAPA affair! So join us for a fabulous free evening of wonderful music from the stars of tomorrow.
