The 41st Musicological Society of Australia (MSA) Conference will be held in conjunction with the 17th Symposium on Indigenous Music and Dance and the ACMC (Australasian Computer Music Association) 2018. The conference will be held at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Perth and will commence Thursday, 6 December and finish early afternoon on Sunday 9, December 2018.

Conference registration pricing

The rates are as listed below and include morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. Early bird rates are available up until Friday, 12 October 2018. Please note that all conference presenters are also expected to be paid members of the Musicological Society of Australia, or of the Australasian Computer Music Association (if presenting as part of ACMC).

Accommodation

Option 1

Stay on campus at the ECU Student Village. These are recently built and in very good condition, comprising self-catering studios with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, in groups of 5. A limited number of rooms (80) have been reserved at the special conference rate of $44 per night. These can be booked (first come first served) via Eventbrite.

Option 2

Stay at a hotel in the Perth Central Business District close to the Perth Busport. A 10% conference discount (off the rack rate) is available at “Mantra on Murray” and “Peppers on Kings Square” with the conference password “EDITHCOWANUNI” (all one word, all capitals), when booking via the Mantra Hotels website. Many other accommodation options are available and can be found on Google Maps.

Option 3

Stay in Northbridge and walk to the bus routes on Fitzgerald Street (same as above). Options include the Northbridge Hotel, Verandah Apartments, Attika, or Great Southern Hotels. Various Northbridge accommodation options are available and can be found on Google Maps.

Public transport

Connecting buses (routes 960, 360/361/362 and 19) travel regularly from the Perth Busport along Fitzgerald Street (which becomes Alexander Drive) to Mount Lawley campus. You can view the full timetable on the Transperth website, with the journey taking about 15 - 20 minutes.

Parking

Free parking is available to conference attendees in Car Park 06 on the ECU Mount Lawley campus.
