WAAPA in the Park

WAAPA in the Park is now in its 12th year of free family entertainment. The City of Stirling, Edith Cowan University and WAAPA proudly present Australia’s premier performing arts academy in concert. Be wowed by the phenomenal Phat Funk Band and WAAPA’s most accomplished Jazz and Contemporary musicians as they rock, bop and strut their way through an awesome collection of old and new funk, soul, pop and jazz classics.

WAAPA In The Park on Saturday 24 March at 7.00pm in Mt Lawley’s Ron Stone Park just opposite Edith Cowan University – offers up a smorgasboard of free live musical entertainment suitable for all ages. The Phat Funk band, who put Funk, Soul, R’n’B, and other contemporary genres into the musical blender and then serve up it up with lashings of jazz improvisation that showcases WAAPA jazz student’s wide-ranging talents. Meanwhile the Contemporary Music students deliver some piping hot contemporary hits by the likes of Haim, Yebba and Amanda Marshall plus plenty of tasty classics by Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Diana Ross, Carol King, Supertramp and heaps more.

WAAPA Production and Arts Management students will also undertake the stage management, lighting, sound and front-of-house management – making this an all-round WAAPA affair! So join us for a fabulous free evening of wonderful music from the stars of tomorrow.
