Nicole is the Course Coordinator of the Diploma of Musical Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Background

Nicole has worked as a director, vocal coach and actor for over two decades across Australasia, specialising in music theatre. She has taught acting and singing at a tertiary level for over ten years in Australia and Singapore. Other industry experience includes being Artistic Director for four annual seasons of Short+Sweet in Singapore, as well as the inaugural Malaysian festival. She has published several Drama textbooks that are widely used in the West Australian education system. Nicole is also a PhD candidate, researching acting in musical theatre.

Research areas and interests

Through her PhD research, Nicole is developing an acting technique that enables the musical theatre actor to use clues in the music of a song to make acting, not merely singing choices, with or without them having music literacy.
