History - Contemporary

Our Single Study program is a great way to study a single class or two offered at WAAPA without committing to one of our full-time programs.

Prepare to dissect the diverse musical cultures of the Contemporary Music genre. The convergence of various musical styles may also be explored alongside the study of chronologies in popular music. You will also touch on basic oral and written communication skills that are essential for all aspiring musicians.

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  • apply basic critical and communication skills;
  • articulate the definitive musical and historical events;
  • produce written work that conforms with university protocols; and
  • recognise aurally the definitive musical styles.
