WAAPA currently enjoys strong community engagement through a selection of public performances, co-presented with our community partners the City of Stirling, City of Perth, City of Fremantle, City of Joondalup and the City of Swan.
Over the years we have worked with many other local councils in metropolitan and regional Western Australia. WAAPA constantly presents new and exciting partnership opportunities covering all performance types. Some recent examples of successfully community partnerships include WAAPA In The Park and the WAAPA Direct series of concerts.
The annual WAAPA In The Park concert is held on the last Saturday in March and is presented by City of Stirling. This free event attracts thousands of audience members from the local community to the beautiful Ron Stone Park (opposite the Academy) for an evening of performance that showcases different areas of WAAPA. In the past we have had wonderful performances by the Faith Court Orchestra, WAAPA Big Band, the Music Theatre and Classical Voice departments, Defying Gravity Percussion Ensemble and many others. WAAPA In The Park has become a significant event and continues to grow in popularity.
We have also developed an annual series of concerts working closely with the Fremantle Arts Centre, with performances in their charming inner courtyard. This allows us to perform off-campus and reach many more members of the community. It enables the City of Fremantle to deliver fantastic entertainment to local residents from some of the country’s best emerging musicians and performers.
These are just two examples of how we can work with you to present quality entertainment for your community. For more information please contact:
