Role of the ECU Foundation

The ECU Foundation wasestablished for the purposes of being the University’s philanthropic vehicle. It aims to aid and promote excellence ineducational and research activities by seeking, receiving and administeringprivate donations and sponsorships for the benefit of the University, includingWAAPA.

The ECU Foundation isgoverned by the ECU Foundation Board, a sub-committee of the ECU Council, whichis made up of a number of external individuals including the Chair of the WAAPABoard.

The ECU Foundation ensuresthe following for all donors to the University, including WAAPA:

  • Donations are usedfor the purposes they are given and accepted.Any change to this would only go ahead with the donor’s consent or theirrepresentative. Therefore, donations to WAAPA will be spent on WAAPA.
  • 100% of thedonation will be spent on the agreed purpose, with no administration feesdeducted.
  • Donations to theUniversity are carefully managed and utilised for the benefits of our studentsand the communities we were established to serve.
  • The Foundationis audited annually to ensure the above is adhered to.

ECU is endorsed by theAustralian Tax Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) organisation,meaning donations to the University are fully tax deductible as charitablecontributions. As WAAPA is a School withECU, this includes all donations to WAAPA.
