The WAAPA Big Band and Jazz Vocal Ensemble join forces to create a momentous sound in celebrating the dynamic and influential connections between jazz and Afro Cuban music, and jazz and Brazilian music. Be swept away with the rhythmic fire of salsa, mambo, samba, bembe, and cha cha, with explosive arrangements of infamous tunes by Dizzy Gillespie such as Con Alma, Manteca and Cubana Be to samba-infused jazz standards and lush reharmonisations of Antonio Carlos Jobim's bossa novas, How Insensitive and Desifinado.

WAAPA's incredible jazz vocalists and the 18-piece WAAPA Big Band will be ramping up the energy, and igniting the stage with the hot rhythmic grooves of salsa, samba, cha cha, mambo and more.

So book your tickets now and join us on a passionate musical journey from New York to Miami to Rio de Janeiro and Havana with songs such as Paul Simon's 'Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard', Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine's 'Conga', Sergio Mendes Brasil 66 'Mas Que Nada', and Toro Mata by the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz.

Lush vocal harmonies will be in abundance!

The vocal ensemble and Big band will also be performing the New York voices arrangement of Paquito D'Rivera's Snow Samba for the 1st time in Australia!
