WAAPA Professional Mentorship Program in association with Allens

WAAPA is very excited to present three paid professional mentorships in 2024, in association with leading international law firm Allens.

Graduates of select WAAPA courses are encouraged to apply for one of three paid Assistant Director/Choreographer positions worth $6,000 each. Shadow one of WAAPA’s directors or choreographers working on a WAAPA production during either Semester 1 or Semester 2 of 2024. The application form will offer you a choice of theatre, dance, music theatre or site-specific performance to observe. You will be able to nominate your top three preferences. The successful applicants will be paid $6,000 each to receive mentoring from an experienced practitioner, gain invaluable work experience as an assistant director/choreographer, and build a track record for career progression.

Interstate applicants who do not currently reside in WA can request an allowance of up to $1,900 as a contribution towards their travel and accommodation.

To be eligible applicants must have graduated between 2015 – 2021 from one of the following courses:

  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal Performance
  • Bachelor of Performing Arts (Performance Making or Practice Transition majors)
  • Bachelor of Arts (Acting)
  • Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre)
  • Bachelor of Arts (Dance)
