Choreography by Hofesh Shechter (restaged by Zee Zunnur) and Pansun Kim
Performed by LINK Dance Company, Bachelor of Creative & Performing Arts (Hons)

Enter Coda is a thrilling double bill showcasing the work of two internationally acclaimed choreographers, brought to life by LINK Dance Company, WAAPA’s elite graduate ensemble.

London-based choreographer and composer Hofesh Shechter is widely recognised as one of the UK’s most compelling contemporary artists, known for creating raw, physically charged dance works underscored by atmospheric and immersive soundscapes. A highlight ‘excerpt’ from his iconic work Grand Finale will be restaged by Zee Zunnur, a long-time collaborator and performer with the Hofesh Shechter Company. The music for this version has been created by Hofesh and it is the first time this material from Grand Finale will have been performed in Australia.

Zee Zunnur said “The students have responded to this work with such openness, curiosity, maturity and bravery to dig deep into Hofesh’s world that demands such emotional and physical depths. It’s humbling to witness them deepen their connection to the work.” She added, “The last time we toured the full length of Grand Finale was in Sydney back in 2020, so it is very exciting to bring a version of this seminal work back to Australia.”

Part rave, part dance, part theatre, Grand Finale (extract) defies categorisation. Spectacularly bold and ambitious - evoking a world at odds with itself.

Since its premiere at La Villette in 2017, Grand Finale has garnered international acclaim, receiving nominations for an Olivier Award and a Bessie Award, and winning a Dora Award for Outstanding Touring Performance.

Complementing this powerful work is a new creation LANDCORPS by South Korean choreographer Pansun Kim, a former dancer with Emanuel Gat. LANDCORPS reflects on the accumulated sense of relationships and environments within life through the body, approaching it as both terrain and surface. It attends to intervals, shifting sensibilities, and the tensions that arise in between.

LANDCORPS evokes the tension and co-existence that emerge between relationships and environments. Through the traces of connection shaped by different presences, it reflects the ways in which accumulation and relation unfold across the field of life.

Both works are performed by LINK Dance Company, WAAPA’s graduate dance ensemble, renowned for pushing the boundaries of movement and performance. With bold physicality and emotional depth, these emerging artists bring extraordinary rigour and vitality to the stage.
