What if Romeo's ending, was Juliet's beginning? Find out how Juliet’s story gets turned on its head in the best possible way when WAAPA brings the international smash-hit musical & Juliet to the Regal Theatre this September.
Fun, flashy and full of heart, this coming-of-age jukebox musical cleverly reimagines Shakespeare’s classic tragedy as an empowering journey of female self-discovery. This is a Juliet who ditches her famous ending for a fresh beginning and a second chance at life and love – her way.
A hilarious, inspiring and poignant script by the Emmy-winning writer of Schitt’s Creek, David West Read, gets amped up by the world’s most loved pop anthems from the late 90s and 2000s, all from the songbook of Grammy-winning Swedish powerhouse songwriter/producer, Max Martin.
Made famous by the likes of Britney Spears, The BackstreetBoys, Katy Perry and more, the playlist of 30 sing-a-long-able bangers includes chart-toppers such as Since U Been Gone, Roar, Baby One More Time, Larger Than Life, That’s The Way It Is, and Can’t Stop the Feeling!

& Juliet runs from Friday 11 to Thursday 17 September for six performances only. The cast of triple-threat 3rd Year Musical Theatre students will be accompanied by an orchestra of WAAPA Music students, with Production and Design students providing the sets, costumes, lighting, sound and backstage crew. Visiting UK guest director Alastair Knights helms the show, with choreography by Jodie Bickle and music direction by Vanitha Hart.
With its high-energy pop score, dynamic choreography, and empowering storyline, this is a musical guaranteed to have you singing and dancing in your seat.
A joyous celebration of self-discovery and second chances, & Juliet proves there’s life after Romeo … the only thing tragic would be missing it!
