It gives me the greatest of pleasure to welcome you to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and to the remarkable program of performances that will feature in 2020.

This year marks WAAPA’s 40th anniversary so we are celebrating with a veritable feast of performances, ranging from the classical to the contemporary and the virtuosic to the boldly experimental, promising to inspire and captivate audiences of all ages.

With the support and inspiration of many of the world’s leading artists and practitioners, WAAPA’s performances establish the foundations on which our students build international reputations as musicians, actors, dancers, directors, designers, technicians, administrators and producers. The training and education offered at WAAPA ranks amongst the finest in the world, so it is with immense pleasure and a real sense of pride that we offer you the opportunity to sample the work of our extraordinarily passionate and dedicated young practitioners.

We look forward to sharing our work with you and to seeing you at some of our breathtaking performances.

Professor David Shirley, Executive Dean
