Genevieve is a Music Lecturer at WAAPA.  She teaches academic classes, percussion studies and also co-ordinates a variety of Elective units.

Background

Genevieve Wilkins is an Australian born freelance percussionist, renowned for her ability as a collaborative cross-genre ensemble musician.  She was based in the UK from 2004-2016, where she was a Professor of Music at the Royal College of Music (London, UK), lecturing in Musical Leadership, Percussion Ensemble Skills and Outreach Mentoring.  Genevieve also has a long career as a consultant and facilitator for creative music projects. Genevieve was a member of “ensemblebash” (2008-2017), UK’s premiere percussion ensemble and is a founding member of “The G Project”, an exciting and virtuosic collaboration with cellist Gabriella Swallow.

Genevieve has performed with and/or recorded with Nash Ensemble, Chroma Ensemble, Gavin Bryars, Joanna MacGregor, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Max De Wardener, Lionel Richie, Akon, Joby Burgess, Andrew Poppy, Colin Riley, Melanie Pappenheim, Galvanize Ensemble, Steve Schick, Ensemble Pi, Tetrafide Percussion and was a founding member of Arabic/Indian/Flamenco fusion group Alcazaba.  She was on stage percussion soloist for the award winning opera premiere of 4.48 Psychosis for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. 2012 saw Genevieve recording and performing the percussion principle part for Mark Anthony Turnage's UNDANCE for Wayne MacGregor Dance Co, released on NMC. Genevieve was Performance MD for the Almeida Theatre premiere of "American Psycho", and has performed regularly as MD and principal percussionist at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, London.  Genevieve’s orchestral credits include the City of Birmingham Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic and the WASO. Her West End credits include “Tap Dogs”, “Thriller Live”, “Never Forget: The Musical”.
