Craig is a Lecturer in Music Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Background

Craig is a pianist, conductor and music educator specialising in the area of Music Theatre. He holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Western Australia, and Master of Music (Orchestral Conducting) from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, USA.

Craig has been a full-time staff member at WAAPA since 2017, and served as musical director for productions of Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, Rock of Ages, Company, Sweet Charity, Bright Star, Assassins, Sweeney Todd, Footloose, and Cats.

In 2019, he was awarded a Learning and Teaching Grant to investigate the use of live-stream video technology in the group keyboard classroom at WAAPA.

Craig has been Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) program since 2020.

As a freelance conductor and keyboard player, Craig toured with productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins and Les Misérables, playing seasons in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines and China. Other first-class Australian productions include Wicked, Legally Blonde, The Sound of Music and Chicago. Craig has served as a repetiteur for Opera Australia (The King and I) and Victorian Opera (Sunday in the Park with George).

In 2021, Craig made his debut with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra conducting the film Love Actually in Concert. For the Perth Symphony Orchestra he has conducted Synthony (at RAC Arena), Amadeus – LIVE, Chess in Concert (Storeyboard Entertainment) and Love Actually in Concert.
