Mrs Sue Giles

Sue is a part-time Costume Technician and sessional Lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Background

Sue has worked in the theatre industry in Perth since graduation from the WAAPA costume course in 1993. Her love of tutu construction and other dance costumes allowed her to be employed at the West Australian Ballet consistently throughout her career. Sue also worked for West Australian Opera, Black Swan Theatre Company, and many other local theatre companies and touring productions in all possible roles. In 2007 Sue began to teach at WAAPA in the costume department, teaching basic sewing skills and tutu construction. Sue has relished the opportunity to help train the future generations of costume makers who come through the WAAPA Costume course. In 2023 Sue commenced working as a part time costume technician and is excited for the increased opportunities to support the costume students on production and their learning.

  • Diploma in Performing Arts in Production and Design -, Edith Cowan University, 1993.
