Andy is a Lecturer in Props Construction in the Production and Design department at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Background

Andrew is currently coordinator of Props at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and Creative Director of Sabi Art + Design.

Professionally he has created many artworks, props and sculptures for the theatre, screen, exhibitions and large-scale retail and commercial projects. He has undertaken recent contracts for WA Opera, The Australian Ballet, The West Australian Ballet, Black Swan State Theatre Company, Barking Gecko, Sensorium Theatre, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and the feature films ‘Dirt Music’ and ‘I Met a Girl’. Internationally, he has lectured at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in, sculpture, special effects and animatronics.

Away from the performing arts he has fabricated a percent for art sculpture for artist Michelle Horrocks in Karratha.

In his spare time he creates artwork with exhibitions at the Moores Gallery of Contemporary Art and Up Gallery. Commissions include a four metre high sculpture for Cape Bouvard Investments, and artist Britt Mikkelsen and Andrew have completed an interactive light sculpture for the Cockburn Integrated Health and Community Facility.
