Contemporary Vocal Performance Workshop

Develop performance techniques in contemporary vocal styles including pop, jazz, rock and R&B. Over six weeks, this course will cover lyric interpretation, movement and finding your own personal style on stage. Performance anxiety and dealing with nerves will also be covered. Vocalists will be given the opportunity to perform and video their performances and receive direction from WAAPA staff. This course is perfect for those who are just starting out and looking to develop their skills in a performance setting or those returning to something they love, reigniting their love of singing.

This 6-week course will deliver:

  • Vocal technique and application: resonance, breathing, vocal registration, basic physiology/anatomy
  • Performance skills: stagecraft, microphone technique, using the space, presentation in speaking to your audience
  • Opportunities to perform and receive feedback. The sessions will run as a tutorial on topics covered above, followed by a practical vocal workshop

Cancellations and refunds

Please choose your course carefully as full refunds will only be given if a course has been cancelled. In the case of illness or extenuating circumstances, a refund may be granted (presentation of a valid medical certificate may be required). Refunds may incur an administration charge of 15% of the total course fee.
