Free Jazz Workshop

The world-class staff from WAAPA's Jazz department will be running free instrumental and vocal workshops for aspiring young musicians. This is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the country's finest jazz performers and educators, whilst getting a glimpse into life at WAAPA. The workshops will be run by the following WAAPA Jazz lecturers:

  • Piano – Tom O’Halloran
  • Saxophone – Jamie Oehlers
  • Brass – Jeremy Greig
  • Voice – Victoria Newton
  • Guitar – Freddie Grigson
  • Bass – Nick Abbey
  • Drums – Chris Tarr

Registration is at 1.45pm in the main foyer of WAAPA (Building 1). Please bring your instrument with you and a water bottle; keyboards will be provided for piano players; drummers please bring your sticks (cymbals are optional).

Workshops will run from 2.00-3.00pm across multiple rooms. Parents can attend a concert from 3.00pm-3.30pm in the Geoff Gibbs Theatre.

Please notify us if your child has any special needs or access requirements so we can provide the best care possible.

Should you not be able to attend your course, please contact the Education Coordinator as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to others and that organisers can plan accordingly.
