Warana Prize and Amy Beach’s Gaelic Symphony

Music Director: Jessica Gethin
Performed by: WAAPA Symphony Orchestra with Jessica Gethin and soloists

In a night of drama and superb musicianship, WAAPA's leading classical soloists join the WAAPA Symphony Orchestra to battle it out in the final of the prestigious 2024 Warana Concerto Competition, with each student performing their favourite concerto movement. Ace conductor Jessica Gethin also directs the opening movement of Amy Beach’s renowned and romantic Gaelic Symphony – the first symphony to be composed and published by a female American composer – and you’ll hear the winning work from the 2024 WAAPA Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition. WAAPA's student performers are mentored by expert musicians from Perth Symphony Orchestra in this outstanding Side-by-Side performance.

WAAPA presents a free workshop for high school years 11 - 12 music students and staff. For more information visit, Amy Beach’s Gaelic Symphony Revealed: An ATAR Lecture/Performance
