Academic admission requirements (Band 1) and English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of Year 10 or equivalent.
All applicants are required to attend an audition. In addition, all applicants are normally expected to be turning at least 17 by 30th June in the year of commencing the course.
As part of the application process, applicants will be required to complete a language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills and competencies review. Full details are on the website.
If you’re passionate about music theatre and want to focus on contemporary repertoire, the Singing for Music Theatre stream within the CUA50820 Diploma of Music offers a focused and practical pathway. Designed for performers looking to strengthen their vocal technique and musicianship in a music theatre context, this course supports both emerging artists and those seeking a solid foundation for future study or professional work.
Students receive tailored vocal lessons, as well as ensemble and workshop classes designed to build confidence and skill in modern music theatre performance. The program includes core units in aural development, theory, music technology, music history, and performance practice, helping students develop as versatile, well-rounded musicians.
Learning takes place in a dynamic, collaborative environment with access to WAAPA’s rehearsal spaces, performance opportunities, and visiting artist workshops. Applicants must audition and be at least 17 years old by June 30 in the year of commencement.
